Happenings Media was created in 2009 by sisters Angela Giovine and Tina McGrath. Raised in Yardley, both women had recently returned to the area after leaving for college.  The experience of attending college and working in New York City changed the way the sisters saw their hometown. With fresh eyes, they began to explore the area, with a new appreciation for the culture and history, and especially for the small businesses that made it unique.

Equipped with their business degrees, professional work experience, and a newly invigorated passion for local, the Happenings Media was born. Over the past 15 years, the platform evolved from a digital magazine into a full-scale media brand, including websites, social media, multimedia, video, podcasts, events and newsletters. Happenings is also proud to have worked with thousands of local business in the region.

In 2011, The Happening List® was born. It represents the true spirit of Happening Media – a celebration of locals. Each year, more than 300,000 votes are cast in the Happening List®, making it the most coveted small business award in the region.
